now do i go about getting money spent for redemption of property back from my inlaws

If they won't pay voluntarily you could take them to small claims court if the amount is no more than $5000, or to District Court if it's between $5000 and $30000. If you had an agreement with them, you would sue on a breach of contract. If you just did it without any understanding with them, you would have to claim unjust enrichment. Consult a real estate attorney for more information.
