I have received a call from the settlement company that took care of the sale of my home last year, they say they want to pay for some expenses I paid for, isn't this strange? They are calling me almost after one year...
Do you think this is normal, does this happen often?

No, it doesn't. It may be that they overcharged you for certain items and an audit has detected this. Settlement firms must submit to annual audits from the title insurers they represent.
