Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Maryland

Seperation of Property

My boyfriend and I bought a house together a year ago and now things are not working out. I would like to get my name off of the loan and the deed. I dont think he would be willing to get the house refinance in his own name. The interest rate is higher than when we bought the house. What are my options?

Re: Seperation of Property

Try to persuade him to sell the property. If he refuses, you can file a partition action in court, which asks the court to order a sale and division of the proceeds. If it goes this route, you'll probably lose money on the deal because of the legal expenses and the fact that it's a forced sale. Perhaps that will convince him to do it voluntarily, if he can't buy you out.
