harassment from the IRS

1992, an exroomate claimed me on his icome taxes with out my knowledge. this was for the year 1991. now they are trying to make me pay for his taxes. i was only a roomate. plus they are telling me if i do not pay they will take my husbands taxes. i was never married to the roomate. i want to know what i can do? they keep bothering me about it. why don't they go after him? it was his income. thenk you
