Legal Question in Traffic Law in Maryland

Bench Warrent

I was given a ticket for DUI in Maryland while I was visiting. I did not take a breathaliser test. I can not attended the court hearing due to many reasons. I have written a letter to them and they said they would issue a bench warrent.

Will the state of Florida be notified and will they arrest me on a Maryland warrent, or is the warrent valid in Maryland?

Re: Bench Warrent

When you receive a citation for Drunk Driving in Maryland and do not attend the mandatory trial, not only is a warrant issued for your arrest in Maryland, but your privilege to drive is suspened in Maryland and your home state will be notified of the suspension, and could result in your driving privilege suspened in your home state. The better way to handle the situation is to have an attorney enter his appearance in Maryland on your behalf, and postpone the case until you can make the hearing. Most State are taking the charges of drunk driving seriously and are imposing stiffer sentences.
