Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Maryland

1. My father died in Baltimore in 1990, leaving only a will that was determined to be fake, so there was no probate. My two brothers told the court that all my father's assets were held jointly with my mother and nothing more was done with the estate (it was not closed, however, until 2004 after my mother's estate was through probate). I now believe that not all assets were jointly held. How do I determine if bank accounts, stocks, bonds, business ventures, etc. were held in 1990 by both my mother and father - is this something that I can research on my own, or what type of person do I need to hire to do this? If I find assets held solely by my father at the time of his death, is it too late to do anything about it?

2. My mother died in Baltimore in 2000 and my two brothers were both appointed personal representatives. They did not list me as an interested person (for the court to send any proceeding notices) until almost 6 months after the multi-millionaire estate was opened. My brothers were well-off with legal representation; I was living in Canada and could not afford an attorney at the time. I did not know that the will could be challenged if a legal heir (me as a natural born child) was not specifically excluded, which was the case. Is there anything I can do now, or is it too late?

You are probably too late. But you know the answer -- HIRE AN ATTORNEY.

Best of luck.
