Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Maryland

How do you get a copy of my mother's Last Will and Testament?

I feel my sister is holding out on what is in my mother's Last, Will and Testament. She has a copy of my mother's Last, Will and Testament and won't show or give or supply me a copy. How do I get her to give me a copy? When or how long does she have to register my mother's death and Last, Will and Testament or is there another legal way I can obtain a copy of my mother's Last, Will and Testament?

If there are any assets that are only in your mother's name than probate must take place. Probate requires the filing of the death certificate at the Circuit Court in the County of where your mother resided. If filed you can call or go to the court house to the Probate Division and request a copy. Give your mother's name and other information they request.
