Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Maryland

Deceased Lawyer

My mother had a will drawn up. Copies have been lost. The lawyer who drew the will is now deceased. How can we get a copy of the will? Where do the lawyers records and papers go...he was in a practice by himself. Thanks.

Re: Deceased Lawyer

If the deceased person lived in Maryland, Depending upon when and where the will was drafted, the attorney likely had the option of filing a copy for safekeeping with the Register of Wills in the county where the deceased person lived. I would check with them to see if a copy was filed.
