Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Maryland

Before my grandfather died, my parents purchased my his trailer but allowed him to remain on the title. How involved does the executor need to be? Does that person receive a fee?

Whether or not the property needs to go through your grandfather's estate depends on how the trailer is jointly titled (there are several different ways to own property jointly). The personal representative (called "executor" in some other states) is entitled to a fee based on the amount of property in the estate. They must be involved in the transfer of any property held in the deceased's name if it doesn't pass automatically by operation of law. The personal representative commissions are set by law.
