Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Maryland

I have power of attorney for my 88 yr old mother who is in an alzheimer's care facility in lancaster, pa. Is there any way my wife and son can be authorized to pay her bills from her account should I die before she does?

First, if your mother is a resident of PA, you should consult a PA attorney. That being said, in Maryland, the powers conferred under a power of attorney are too personal to be delegated to someone else. Your mother, if competent, would have to execute a new power of attorney to add your wife and son. If she is not competent, your wife and/or son would have to apply to the court for a guardianship.
