Legal Question in Workers Comp in Maryland

Injury at work

My husband was injured at work, he went to the doctor that his company wanted him to go see, he was given a prescription for a medicine that makes him sleep. He was also given a doctors note for light duty. He called in today because he was in alot of pain, and because he was unable to drive on the meds. Now his company says he is getting written up because he didn't come to work today. Are they allowed to write him up?

Re: Injury at work

Your husband needs to immediately file a claim with the worker's compensation commission and to get his own treating physician. The doctor he went to essentially is putting the company's interests first and your husband's second. Probably the insurance company will refuse to let him change doctors and he will have to ask for a hearing. He needs to retain an experienced worker's comp attorney as soon as possible.
