Legal Question in Business Law in Massachusetts

Hurting My Business

A company contacted a state agency inquiring about the services my business provides. An agency employee replied back with a letter which they also posted on the agency website. It describes my services accurately and then states ''I talked with the owner and he was very amateurish''. I do not remember talking with this person but I have two emails from them in which I answered their questions about what my services. This letter is viewable to my prospective customers and it can only hurt my business. Do I have any rights here? I will ask them to remove it but what if they do not?

I am not sure that this rises to defamation. People are entitled to post their opinion. If you believe that there is no basis since no contact was made, you can request the person to cease and desist as the first step.
