Legal Question in Consumer Law in Massachusetts

Did I Unknowingly Sign a Contract to Purchase Vehicle

My wife and I went to look for a used car to purchase. We spoke to the finance person. She said our credit looked great, and there would not be a problem. She sent us into another person, who wrote up paperwork and had us sign. We asked if this meant we were bound to the car, and she said she didn't think so, it was just paperwork. When we went home, we decided we couldn't afford that vehicle, so we called and said we didn't want to purchase the vehicle. We were informed that by signing that paper, we bought the car, and that they would get us financed, and that was that. Did we buy that car, and yes, the financing was approved??

REad the contract to see what it actually says. If it confirms the dealer's statement, is it highlighted. If not and you bought car in MA you have claim under Consumer protection law. You also have a cliam for misrepresentation based on them misrepresenting document and withholding information that would have resulted in your not buying car. Prior to filing a legal action, you must wrote a demand letter to dealer, spelling out facts and giving notice that you are writing under Ch.93 A of MA law. You should also contact the MA consumer protection offices, listed inthe blue pages of your telephone book under Attorney General and also Consumer Affiars, they may have other complaints against this dealer and could agree to help without your need for an attorney. If not, you should consult with an attorney.
