Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Massachusetts

my ex boyfriend owes me money, but went off to his basic training for the Arny, and didnt pay me. He had attempted to after asking him several times, and used his mothers checks. The checks ended up bouncing and i got copies of them in the mail and saved them for proof. I still do not have my money and i want it back because it is a lot of money. I would like to know what my chances are of winning this case or should i just not bother taking her.

You don't mention how much money is owed. There are limits to the size of a claim you may bring in the small claims session. I believe the jurisdictional limits of the small claims session have been raised to $5,000.00. If a debt is over that amount is owed, you must file in the District or Superior Courts, or agree to limit your damages. You should send a written demand, and then sue. If you would like some assistance, please don't hesitate to contact our office.
