YES- You can be sued.

However, that doesn't mean that you don't have rights! For instance, if debt collectors have been illegally harassing you over this debt, we may be able to get you up to $1,000 in statutory damages under the Federal Fair Debt Collections Practices Act ("FDCPA").

In fact, Massachusetts has provided you with additional protections under State law as well.

Please visit my website at www.StopCalls.Net and get in touch with me if you require assistance.

There is no cost to you for an FDCPA case.

Good Luck!

You can be sued, however, whether the creditor will actually be able to collect is a different subject. Massachusetts law places exemptions on a specific level of assets. If your situation falls below all of the exemptions, then you are deemed "collection proof". It doesn't change that you owe the debt, but the creditor cannot force you to pay. You can learn more about collection exemptions at http://www.masslegalservices.org/node/35799.
