Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Massachusetts

My wife is being sued for non payment of a credit card.I have no connections to the card. We have no bank books etc together. We have always kept our finances separate. Our home was mine before we were married, and has never been in her name. Am i liable for her debt.

You are not liable for her debt. However, any assets or property that you own together with her is subject to garnishment, attachment, or levy. It sounds like this is not an issue in your case. Likewise, a debt or a judgment against your wife would be payable from any inheritance she had planned to leave you. If your wife wants to settle the debt (defend the lawsuit and get rid of the debt once and for all) please have her call my office. 617-357-4898.
