Legal Question in Criminal Law in Massachusetts

My 14 year old son is on juvenile probation in Massachusetts. A condition of his probation is that he attend school. I have recently filed a letter of intent to homeschool with our local school district and his probation officer has told me that this may not meet the conditions of his probation and that if I go ahead with homeschooling, his probation may be violated. Does the court have the right to tell me that I cannot homeschool?

Yes, a court has the right to require a child to attend public school.

One option is to go back to court to try to have the terms of probation revised to allow for home schooling. Under the circumstances, my guess is that would be something of a long shot, but the court does have the power to revise the terms of the probation.
