Community Service
What is acceptable as fulfilling a community service sentence, other than working with the local police/fire dept? Is volunteering in a shelter or a non-profit organiztion acceptable?

Community service must be approved by the supervising probation officer. The officer will consider many factors including the reason for community service, the record of the probationer, the jobs available, the people the probationer will be in contact with at the position, and the orders of the court. It is possible for any charitable, government, or service organization to be approved for community service.
