Legal Question in Criminal Law in Massachusetts

on december 19 2009 i was shopping at a walmart right before closing. and because i was in a rush trying to get home before a snow storm, i happen to leave my wallet in the carriage. now a walmart employee found my wallet and brought it to the customer service desk. i called shortly after i left to report my wallet missing. and they told me nothing was yet found. at the time of the call a customer who was at the customer service desk over heard over one of the employees radios that a wallet was missing. that customer left and went back into the store to claim that HER wallet was missing, and that customer service manager she spoke to about it did not give ask this women for no type of id or anything and handed this women my wallet. this manager did mnot follow correct store procedures so now some strange women has my wallet and they HAVE EVERYTHING ON CAMERA. they also have this womens credit card information and i have had them contact the police in which i myself have to go give them a report because walmart employee gave my wallet to a complete stranger. my wallet was a gucci and expensive and also had 160$ in it which i could prove was withdrawled from my bank the evening prior. i know i have a case this women probably threw away my purse because she could not use my credit or debit cards because i canceld them but there was money in that wallet and for walmart not to ask for an id for this type of situation i think i crazy. my question is do you think i should go through with a lawsuit?

Based on what you have said, I think you should let the police handle this. You say that the store contacted them, and I think you should also feel free to contact the detective or officer who is handling this matter. Since they have everything on tape and they know the identity of the woman who took your wallet, I think this is the most sensible way to proceed.
