Frudulent Check

A friend of mine got a check from his daughter and put it into his bank account. It turned out to be a fake one she said she got in the mail. Who is responsible here for the bad check? Is my feind in trouble?

The issuer of the check, unless your friend was involved in the issurance of the check or its cashing, knowing or having reason to know the check was fake.
