Harrassment in School

My son has been harrassed at school to the point where he has put his hands on another student. The student's parents are threatening to report this to the police because they are unaware of their child's instigation of the conflict. Can I charge the other student with harrassment of my son? What are the laws in MA concerning harrassment among students?

There are a variety of laws, civil and criminal that probably apply to the situation. Harassment is a conclusion, what one needs is the facts to determine what is applicable.
