Legal Question in Criminal Law in Massachusetts

On Sunday August 29 my boyfriend who is 21 got arrested for making threats towards his ex wife and they are holding him without bail till his parents get back from Portugal in 7 days now can they force him to go live with his parents on the bracelet with his ex wife who lives with his parents and his parents and him dont get along they dont want us to be together is it legal for them to put the bracelet on him?

I really need to know more about the case and his criminal record. I would assume where he is 21 that the only place one can force someone to live in the criminal setting is the house of corrections and that would only be done after a trial or based on an agreed upon plea. The facts sound a little strange where he is being held until his parents return instead of bail being set and someone posting the amount. There is some critical information missing. A judge almost never places such restrictive pre-trial conditions on a competent adult.
