Legal Question in DUI Law in Massachusetts

OUI in Florida - Suspension in Massachusetts
In 2000 I was arrested for a first offense OUI in Florida. Though it took a few years, I recently had my license reinstated in Florida.

I now live in MA and want to get my license back. I was told it was going to be suspended in MA for a year - because of FL arrest. Is this common - considering I had my license reinstated in Florida? I feel as though I am being punished a second time for something that I've already made restitution for.

Any information would be very helpful - thank you.

THis is called reciprocity. It does seem strange that DMV is trying to suspend your license for a suspension that transpired several years ago.
