Legal Question in Entertainment Law in Massachusetts

Non Payment of royalties

I produced three songs on an album

back in 2004...it looks like this album

was being sold overseas, and the

internet in great quantity and i have

not recieved one dime. It looks like

there was an overseas deal that we

(artist & Producers) were not privy

to. What should be my next move?

Re: Non Payment of royalties

It may sound trite, but your first step should be to bring the contract and any other relevant documents to an attorney for evaluation of your rights. The scope of the rights granted by you (and/or your associates) is going to be set out in the contract.

Best wishes,

Re: Non Payment of royalties

The first step is to take your contract to an attorney to review your rights withn respect to royalties.

After determining your rights you can proceed to find out if the songs are being sold under your contract or pirated by someone. Once that is determined, you can move forward.

Please feel free to contact me if you have additional questions.
