A minor child does not necessarily get to "choose" where they live. The court must determine what is in the best interests of a minor child. There may be many reasons a child may want to live elsewhere, but it may not be in his/her best interests. However, technically a child over age 14 can appoint their own guardian but the guardian must be approved by the Probate court. It's difficult to give you complete advice without knowing all of the facts. Please feel free to call me if you would like to discuss this in more detail.
