Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

child support

My husband is in the cort prosses of finding out if a child he owes 28,000 in back child support is actually his. our lawer says that even if it turns out to not be his that he would still have to pay the back support. Is this true? it has been 10 years but he never had the $ to go to court until now. and the child was 2 when the mother first tried to take him to court but he was stationed in Japan when it all took place and was just made to pay the support. again he was from PA and the support was from TX and he could not afford to go to TX to take care of the problem.

Re: child support

Your lawyer may be right. If your husband paid the child support that was ordered, the court may look at it as if he acknowledged being the father by paying the child support as ordered and not contesting it in court.
