Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

I am divorced and by court order, paying for my ex-wife's medical insurance. If I get remarried, do I still need to pay for her medical insurance?

Since you are paying your ex-wife's medical insurance by court order, the answer to your question is most certainly in the language of that same court order that requires you to pay it. If you do not have a copy of your divorce agreement, you can obtain a copy at the probate and family court where your divorce was adjudicated. Typically, a person who is required to continue to cover his spouse after divorce is not required to do so after remarriage, but may be required to enable her to remain on the plan by means of a rider, and she may be required to pay the additional cost, if any. The specifics, as noted above, should be spelled out in your divorce order.
