Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

is an ex.spouse entitled to share in state lottery winnings after a 30 year marriage?

Spouse is continually late with $100.00 allimony payment and recently won one million dollars in the Mass. state lottery.

He was required to provide health insurance thru his work, But got himself terminated.

He now is employed part time and no longer has to provide the health insurance, but has to pay a additional $50.00 for health coverage. His checks are always late or post dated..

Thank You, JeanMarie

If you were divorced at the time he won the lottery, you are not entitled to any of the money. If he is paying child support to you for minor children, his winnings might be cause for a modification of the support agreement.

Depending upon the terms of the divorce decree you may be entitled to seek modification and can certainly seek that he be required to pay for health insurance.

I would suggest you contact an attorney to review the terms of the divorce decree and discuss your options.
