Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

Legal Permanent Address

I am currently out of my permanent residence due to a trial separation from my spouse. I have purchased a used automobile and would like to register and insure the car. My question is: What is my legal residence address? Is it where I am currently living or is it my residence with my spouse as we are still currently married? I would like to know if it is legal to use my permanent residence address for registration and insurance, as I am still hoping for reconcilliation. Thank you and I look forward to your answer.

Re: Legal Permanent Address

Your insurance company may have requirements with where the car is principally garaged and with regard to your insurance premiums. You should call them.

Your legal address probably has not changed if you have not filed for a separation and your personal property remains at the marital home. You may however, have a new mailing address.

Good Luck.
