Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

Moving out of Mass

I want to move out of Massachusetts with my daughter. I have full custody. The father does not have court ordered visitation and is not on the birth certificate. Us moving will allow us to be closer to my grandparents and my mom and dad. I will also have a full time job and the chance to go to college. The father said i cant go. Im just wondering why i need permission from a judge or why i need to file a modification? What exactly needs to be ''modified'' because nothing was given to the father when we went to court except that he needs to pay child support which has nothing to do with me being able to move.

Just wondering.

Re: Moving out of Mass

You need to seek an order from the court permitting relocation.
