Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

I am pregnant and the father and have not been getting along and can not agree on anything. He works under the table, and lies to the government to keep his section 8 housing, food stamps and mass health. Going forward, what are the best decisions I should be making now? Should I give the baby his last name? Should he be on the birth certificate? How / Do these decisions affect custody and chil support in the future? Is there anything else I can do to protect my rights as the mother once the baby is born? He is Russian (an American and Russia citizen) and I'm afraid he will try to take the baby with him to Russia one day.
