Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

property

my 16 yr old daughter was given a computer for use for school.she has become difficult and ran away and is is staying with her father.It was purchased by myself my mother inlaw(her stepfathers mother)and my mother.I will not allow her to take it with her.her father is not fond of me and well is not helping the situation.He is talking legal action to take the computer do the have any rights to it.It was purchased when she was living he an its only been a day since she left.I am the custotial parent he has minimal visitation

You should be demanding (directly or through your attorney) that your daughter be returned to your custody rather than his demanding custody of the computer.You are responsible for her well being as the custodial parent. Good Luck!

I don't understand why your priorities are with the computer and not with your daughter. If your daughter is refusing to live with you, at the age of 16, the court will not force her to stay.

You need to ask yourself what's important in your life, your daughter or the computer. Also, you need to look at the root cause of the problem why she's run away and not be so concerned with material possessions.
