Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

Here is the situation:

26 yr. old male has unprotected sex with co-worker who is 46 year old woman. She is now claiming she is pregnant and doesn't know what to do. He says he really can't support a child right now and she should take care of it. Now, she leaves notes on his windshield at work, goes around at work ruining his reputation about how she is carrying his child. He doesn't even know if it is his? She is saying he needs to give up parental rights or give her money to help out. He doesn't even know if she is really pregnant and if she is, if he is the father.

What are his rights? Her rights?

Thank you for your question.

This is a complicated issue, and, there will be consequences to whichever course of action this individual decides to pursue. It is not quite as simple as giving her money or giving up legal rights to the child.

I strongly suggest that this individual speak with an attorney who practices in the area of domestic relations, and really work through some of the options and likely consequences.
