Legal Question in Medical Leave in Massachusetts

FMLA and informing work about pregnancy.

Do I legally have to inform an employer tha I am pregnant? I do not wish to inform anyone until I am ready, but wish to start a new career. Can they fire me for not telling them, or just for being pregnant when they discover it? I do not wish to ask for paid maternity leave and only expect a few weeks of leave. Where can I find out my rights about this? CAn they not hire me if they knew in advance I am prengant if I am still capable of doing my job?

Re: FMLA and informing work about pregnancy.

You do not have to inform them of anything. In fact, you don't have to tell them that you've given birth.

BUT, if you want the protection of laws, there are notification requirements and steps you must follow.

Don't do something that will cut off your rights for the wrong reasons.
