Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Massachusetts

child support

I am the primary holder of a joint acct in mass with my roommate who owes childsupport to the state of ca. He has a separate personal acct and is only on this acct for rent related expenses. Today child services went and took 700 of my money from the acct purely bc they saw his name. i want to know what my rights are bc these people keep hanging up on me

A joint account is considered to be the property of all joint tenants who can withdraw any or all of it. Close that account and set up a separate account for rent without his name on it. Good Luck!

You have trouble. To the extent his name is on the account, DOR can levy.
