Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Massachusetts

Lost/stolen laptop

Hello, I recently ordered a laptop from a company online, and asked that it be shipped to my company. It came in three boxes (two boxes had accessories, one with the laptop). The shipper sent me an e-mail notification that it arrived, and so I went to the loading dock to pick it up. The two boxes with accessories were there, but not the box with the laptop. The shipping supervisor said it never came. However, the company that shipped it said that since someone had signed, that they were not liable, and the company I bought it from said the same. What can I do in this situation? I'm not sure what the laws are with this kind of situation; since it is a personal package, my workplace is not liable. I've filed a police report, but I do not know where that will go. Thanks in advance for any help.

: Lost/stolen laptop

Somebody is lying.

Make sure that whoever signed actually signed for three boxes; get proof.
