Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Massachusetts

Traffic accident

My Fiance was going down main st in woburn mass it was raining, a woman was pulling out from a curbside to go directly into a lot across the st. Ben hit her causing her vehicle to collide into a parked car, The man who owns the parked car is suing her and my fiance for damages. I was told by the head of the traffic division in the woburn police dept the accident was her fault she failed to stay to the right and she was crossing the solid yellow lines on a main rd. Anyway we went to court, and stated why we don't feel we should have to pay for this mans damaged car as the accident was her fault, we did not see a judge it was a court magistrate, he said he will mail his decision, but he told me in mass there is a law that both of us should pay for his car. i find it out of controll as he had the right of way and she caused the accident, how can i get out of possibly having to pay this, is there any other laws to counteract his decision or the law he mentioned, i refuse to pay this no matter what but i would like to do it right, and he is coming w/ this claim 8mos later. does that stand for anything? please help i do not want to pay this amount we have 2 kids and imay be having another.

thank you
