Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Massachusetts

Workplace Discreditation

Is there any recourse for an individual whose co-worker is attempting to discredit her with her employers by telling lies and starting rumors? Employers realize perpetrator is in the wrong, but the experience of constantly being ''attacked'' is very unpleasant. Lies don't reach level of slander, I think.

Thank you.

If you have proof, then you can sue for defamation or under some other tort theory.
