Legal Question in Immigration Law in Massachusetts

Marriage

I am a resident of Massachusetts, in a relationship with a man from England and we are both well over the age of 21. My question: he is coming here for a visit in 3 weeks. Is it possible to get married while he is here? I have tried researching the laws and have not found an answer. We are going to be in Massachusetts and also vacationing in Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Maine and New Hampshire. Is it possible to get married in any of those states or any other neighboring state. I am wondering about the legalities.

Re: Marriage

You can certainly get married. Whether he will be allowed to remain here without having to go back to England for the proper visa is a different question. I would need more information about your status and your plans before properly advising you.

Re: Marriage

Since you are a resident of Massachusetts, you should get married in Massachusetts. You have to obtain a marriage license from your city/town clerk. Then go through your marriage ceremony. You can then petition for his immigrant visa and then continue with consular processing in England for him to immigrate to the US.
