Legal Question in Employment Law in Massachusetts

I have been employed as a waitress at a restaurant for 4 years. Last week my manager illegally rang up alcohol to a "takeout" customer, but rang it up under my employee number (without my permission) to hide the fact that it was an illegal sale. When I approached another manager about it, the manager who engaged in the illegal sale took me aside, swore at me, and stormed off. There were several witnesses to this exchange. I never raised my voice or swore. The next day I was fired by that same manager for having an "outburst" against her. Is this legal? What should I do?

If you were fired for complaining about illegal conduct then your firing is illegal. You may have a problem proving this. Did you save a copy of the receipt? Do you have witnesses who will attest that you did not have an outburst that was observed by customers?
