Q: Can I kick out my room mate? We only have verbal agreement and canceled checks. I own the home solely and My room mate and me signed a notarized agreement he's to vacate on a said date. the date is passed, Also....we share the same mailbox.... with that, I signed to receive a registered letter I sent (can't find it now) for him to vacate on said (past) date.

I called police when I suspected he slashed my tire. police questioned him for "self induced slashed wrist and mental state", Sent him to the hospital to be checked. I was refused a restraining order. Please help me!?

Thank you for your question.

The best course of action - and the only one that will guarantee your roommate's removal - is to move forward with a lawful eviction. My strong advice is that you retain counsel to assist you. An attorney can make sure that you follow the law, and help you in the various twists and turns that often arise in the tenant-landlord setting. This will be particularly sensitive since you and the tenant share the same space.

Our firm brings evictions in the Greater Boston area for landlords, some of whom own a single rental unit and others who own multiple buildings.

You need to file an eviction for the roommate. It is a straightforward process. This is the only alternative you have at this point.
