Legal Question in Legal Ethics in Massachusetts

Attorney not doing his job

In July hired a attorney to handle a child custody case. I am a soldier stationed in Mass. The case was started in SC. I paid the Lawyer 5000 dollars in August, and I have not heard from him but 1 time when I called him. I travel alot on different missions so I had like a yr schedule of dates and places that I e-mailed to him. I have him office cell, home e-mail fax number , every possible means of contacting me . I have heard absoblutely nothing. When I call his office he is never there. i really just want my money back so that i can retain another attorney. I am so tired of this attorney and feel like I am being taken advantage of because I don't live in SC. WHAT CAN I DO TO GET MY FUNDS BACK. SIGNED ANGRY IN NEW ENGLAND

You'll need to discharge him, in writing, and request a return of the retainer. At a minimum, this will prompt a response.
