Legal Question in Legal Ethics in Massachusetts

My wedding band of 25 years was left on a jewelry counter. Called the store as soon as I got home; they found ring, brought it to customer service to hold for me. Customer service "doesn't know what they did with it." Claims dept. is trying to find, or have ME find a similar ring on the market to determine its value. I informed them that a 25-year-old wedding band is priceless. I insisted they continue to look, that I'd rather have the ring back. They have been proactive searching, to no avail. I don't even know what to say to them now. I'm speechless and angry and don't know how to proceed.

Well, there are a lot of possibilities, one not very nice one may be that an employee swiped it. Typically, once you engage an attorney, the offers to repay you for the ring will go up, as will the availability of other kinds of relief. Theoretically, the store should have cameras at the jewelry counter - and maybe even pointed at customer service.

The ring should have been put into a safe by a manager as soon as the store accepted responsibility for it. I would like to help you get your ring back.

You can contact me for that purpose: 617-230-2779.

Best of luck.
