Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in Massachusetts

Medical Malpractice

My son had a fever. I could not get his fever to go down and took him to the ER. They took his temperature and it was at 107degrees. We were at the Hospital for 5 hours in which the doctor said that there was nothing wrong with him and that he can go home. I insisted that he be admitted because of the concern that it took 5 hours for the doctors to get his temp down to normal. They reassured me that he was ok to go home. As soon as I got home his temp spiked up again. I called the ER and they told me to try different things to get his temp to go back down. I couldn't. That evening he was extremely hot and lethargic. I took him back to the ER and his temp was 106. One doctor had the sense to have him admitted. About an hour later he ended up with herpes(from the fever) and pneumonia. He was in the hospital for a week. My question is, what can be done about this. I complained to patient relations that they sent me a letter telling me they were sorry for what I went through and said the doctors felt at the time that my son didn't need to be admitted. I was told that my son could have ended up in a coma because of their lack of caring. I don't want this to happen again to me or anyone else.
