Legal Question in Personal Injury in Massachusetts

I hit a pedestrian with my car. The police report was highly favorable to me. The person I hit is an illegal alien. My insurance company has told me they won't pay him anything without a social security number.

First, can an illeagal alien sue me?

Can the person I hit sue me without my insuance company? Can they "by pass" my insurance company if the insurance copmany insists on a socila security number?

Thanks!

Yes an illegal alien can sue a person that caused them harm. They could by pass your insurance company if they insist on not paying based on the social security number issue. They may even sue the insurance company, if they deny the claim based on them being an illegal alien.

I agree that, as with any personal injury claim, the injured person can simply bypass your insurance company and sue you directly. If you are interested in having some legal representation during this process, please feel free to contact our office. Your insurance company should take care of the expense of your defense attorney.
