Death certificates are public records that can be obtained from the clerk in the city or town where your father died. Medical records are most easily obtained by the representative of your father's estate (executor (trix)) if he had a will, administrator (trix)) if he died intestate. A release signed by the representative of his estate is forwarded to the holder of the medical records. If your father died intestate, your father's kin can apply to the probate court in the county where he resided for appointment as adminstrator(trix).

If you are intending to explore claims based on your father's asbestos related exposure, the attorney that would explore these potential claims could most easily advise you and your family on the appropriate steps to take and paperwork to fill out.
