Legal Question in Personal Injury in Massachusetts

I had a personal injury case settle out of court in 1991. I have no documentation regarding the case. My attorney claims the case is old and that the file was shredded/destroyed. If there any place where I can obtain information about the case/settlement?

Ususally case files are kept for a period of 3 - 7 years. This case is going on 18 years old. If yor attorney shredded/destroyed the files in accordance with his document handling procedure and the case settled out of court, the only possible place to inquire would be with the other side's attorney. Good luck.

The only place you may be able to get some records is the court or from the other party.

I agree with Warren.
