Legal Question in Personal Injury in Massachusetts

A year ago I had a no fault accident and after the accident when I needed to rent a replacement car I was told my license had expired. The police did not pick this up at the accident scene. The other persons ins company is now calling me to discuss the accident a year later. My van has been repaired and I had minimal hospital care following the accident. I did not notify my insurance co or theirs that my license had expired, simply went and renewed it the first opportunity I had. Am I in trouble?

I would not worry about your expired license at this time. Insurance companies are unlikely to be concerned with such a thing.

That said, I would strongly recommend that you talk to an attorney before negotiating a settlement with the insurance company. I can say as both an attorney and former insurance adjuster, that insurance companies make extremely low offers to unrepresented plaintiffs because they believe you are unaware of all of your rights and unaware of what your case is worth.

Please contact my office if you would like to discuss your case. If it is only a matter of negotiating a settlement for you, we could make an arrangement less than the typical 33% contingency fee. Best of luck.
