Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Massachusetts

Damage on the floor

Hi,

I own a condominum. The tenant who lives below us complains that there is a water leak on the ceiling whenever I use the shower.

I have contacted the several plumbing services, and they informed me that it is hard to know what the problem is.

In any case, is this soley my responsibilty? I am wondering if the tenant below also has obligation to investigate into this matter since the problem could be pertinent to their ceiling rather than my bathroom.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Damage on the floor

Hi,

Interesting question. Here are a couple of ideas to orient you. The homeowner's association owns from the walls of the units - out. The bylaws tell how the association acts.

Next is insurance. The condo policy, your homeowner's and your neighbors. You might want to call a public adjuster.

All legal claims have time deadlines, I can't say which would apply to your situation, act without delay.

Best wishes
