Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Massachusetts

I am a lay person and I am appealing a Town's enforcement order to the District Court. For purposes of examining witnesses am I considered the defendant (because the action was against me) or the plaintiff (because I'm appealing).? I just need to know how to frame my direct (or cross-examination).

I would suggest you frame the question in terms of Town or you. Technically you are the Plaintiff-Appealant-Petitioner. You can refer to yourself as the Appealant and the Town as the Appealee if you want. As long as you make it clear what term refers to whom.

Where are you appealing this case? Why are you doing it yourself? I know a guy who just did one of these. If you're interested, email me at: [email protected] and I can try and refer you (though no promises he will even take the case).
